About Taken on a marvellous morning at Patricia Lake in Canada. As the sun glowed on more and more of the mountain I was desperately moving up and down the lakeside, visiting and revisiting all the foreground objects I had earmarked to photograph. This submerged tree route was my favourite of the lot.

Beautifully crisp and clear, Adam. The light on the mountains emphasizes their details superbly, while the submerged root (with a small part breaking the water surface) is a wonderful element.

Both were the same focal length - 22mm. I have a feeling I fixed the other horizon as somebody previously commented about it on another site. So maybe it is wonky - but the strange thing is - if you put a line over the horizon - its only the far left that seems wonky. The rest looks dead straight to me. Maybe its the curve of the lake side? Dunno, but its certainly not too much to worry about.

Adam.

Hi Adam...thanks for getting back to me; I like this one over the other one; the composition is more interesting. I am having a bit of difficulty with the barrel distortion though...I would thing that the distortion would be proportional and not just to one side. Your other shot you uploaded is perfectly straight on the horizon line; different lens or focal length?

Hi Jim,

I have another landscape shot of this subject matter exactly as you had described; I placed the root on the left. I think I prefer this shot, which while breaking the convention I think on this occasion is more artistic. Still I have attached the other one for you to see.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for your kind comment. The horizon itself is straight - I think there is a slight bend on the far left which is resulting from barrel distortion from the wide angle.

Thanks again,
Adam.

Fantastic composition and great exposure. After staring at this shot for quite a while I found myself wondering how it would have looked if you had taken just a step to the right. This would have moved the tree root a bit to the left. What a wonderful picture - I must have stared at it for a full 5 minutes (which is a long time to study a picture :-) Nice work indeed.

Adam,

Your work is some of the best I've ever seen; mind blowing actually. Is it me or is the Horizon line off a bit. I've uploaded your great shot with the horizon line tweeked...can you let me know if I'm off with this??? Again...your work is so outstanding!

thanks!
