Thanks Andrzej, it was strange to see this, as well as the big chunks of ice falling off the CN Tower (seen on TV) - although I was caught Monday morning in the huge traffic jam following the closure of the Gardiner Expressway because of the falling ice. Another great photo op I missed ;-( Best regards, Ina

Thanks very much Jordin, it was an unusual sight, the cold weather froze the smoke in the air. ... still I'm hoping for the warmer weather, enough with this big freeze :) Best regards, Ina

This is so nice scene, warm and delicate in tones but still expresses the deep cold feel of the arctic frigid air. Cheers, NJ

Hi Ina Love the photo, a real eye opener. Great composition, although I kind of find that the power line towers take away from the CN a little bit. very small critique on a beautiful photo. I really does convey a strong emotion

Thank you very much Joe! Some days I look outside and the scenery is changing with the light and atmospheric conditions. Some days I see the downtown in bright color, other days it's dark and grey, and the other day it was the smoke. Some days the whole downtown disappears into the clouds. I never get tired of it :) Have a great day, Ina

Hi Ina, There is really a LOT to like about this image. Unique urban theme is great. I like the look of the gradual change from dark at the bottom to light at the top. The numerous points of interest, smoke rising everywhere you look, the great skyline with CN Tower, the hydro line in the middle all add up to a great image. I like the sepia tone. Great light and exposure. Excellent shot.
Have a great day, Joe

Hi Ina! Funny, it´s -14C here right now, too :) A very special sight ... a city trying to cope with the cold. Love the gradient light and how the smoke can be seen so well in the foreground. A most atmospheric shot, so well composed; congrats! *warm hugs* :)

Thanks very much Dave, Today the smoke seemed frozen - there was no wind, it was weird, because it wasn't moving. I was surprised though by the color the camera produced, it all seemed like sepia and not much color. The sun was almost horizontal in line with my lens.

Very nice variation on your skyline shot, Ina! Great capture of all that smoke from the chimneys on a cold morning. Great depth to the shot with the variation in tone from foreground to background. Very well seen and captured! Dave.

Thanks very much Fahad, this struck me also as "global warming" when I saw it - but it was minus 14C, and... pretty cold! It's not warming up here yet :)))) Have a great day, Ina

Thank you very much Sascha, you don't get to see this very often. The sun was hitting the smoke, and it was more impressive to see than in this picture. I wanted to post a pano, but I got lens flare in most of the pictures. Best regards, Ina

Hi Gary, and thanks :) This is straight from my balcony, in my "backyard" so to speak. It's a pretty view, and it changes dramatically with the sunlight. No Rocky Mountains, but some sunrises are spectacular. I should have bracketed some pictures to try an HDR, but I was in a hurry, this was handheld. Best regards, Ina

wow, great city shot, Ina! Like I say "the big smoke"!! hahaha Not much to critique here. A well balanced shot with great morning lighting. Additionally, the fog/smog really adds to the mood here. Were you in a building to get this shot? a great view of the city wherever it was taken. Cheers, Gary :)
