Doyle,
Fill flash was not an option, as I was too far away. The picture was taken with the equivalent of a 420mm lens. I may be wrong, but I think that's out of flash range (I haven't done much flash photography)
I did try to do what you suggest, but I'm just not good enough at editing to make it happen. It just looked worse. Besides, it's REALLY tough to type and work the mouse with these huge fur-lined gloves on.
I'll make a place for you in the guest igloo if you decide to come up here for a visit.
Cheers, Todd ;^)

By the way . . . I did a quick look and think you could be saving this if you put in the time and didn't do a sloppy quick job like my example . . . but whoa! There is potential.

Oh Todd! Would be great with a fill flash . . . . I might have considered setting the black point and silhouetting this . . . but it would likely have lost some of the impact. I'm thinking . . . what's the star here . . . the bird or the color. I'm answering . . . the bird. Hmmmmmm . . . ok . . . I'm jealous of this owl not being here!! LoL!

Beautiful colour, and a nice composition of the bird and bush against the sunset, Todd! Dave.
