Hehe. Thanks, Basant. I had this inverted reflection in mind when I took the shot, and my hosts were puzzled when I actually held my camera upside down to take this shot (though it wasn't necessary). I would love to go back - Indians are such friendly, hospitable people!

hey,Paul...i agree with AJ about that line up top which is what i was trying to convey in my previous comment...the texture of pool reflection is fine and by cropping that smidgen of distracting line up top,you then get a more polished image, brat,eh? ;>

This is a wonderful interpretation of a much photographed but classic monument (perhaps soon to be classified as one of the new 7 wonders of the world). Great to see it on the front page. Perhaps you might consider cropping that harsh horizontal line at the top.

THANK you, Shirley! What you didn't see was my 4 attempts to post this image: - After uploading, realized it was not white balanced, but a bit yellow from the smog - Uploaded again, then realized that my crop wasn't quite symmetrical - Uploaded once more, realizing the frame was now symmetrical, but the image was rotated about 2 degrees clockwise. - Finally happy with the shot. ;)
This is honestly a favorite for me, TOO. After so much joy immersed in fashion photography, it's pleasing to know I can still nail an architectural shot.

Hehe. Thanks Gayle. The thing I like most about this angle is how the closest area of the reflecting pool (at top) added some wicked texturing to what was a featureless sky.
Tripod? Didn't need no steenking tripod, as this was about 10am in full sun. So bright in fact that I was able to drop to ISO 100 and start shooting RAW+JPEG.
|
|
|
Paul Lara
{K:88111} 2/10/2007

Yeah, Sal, this is of course inverted and cropped to support the symmetry, but not much was done to the original image, as I 'saw' this moment while shooting. There's two long reflecting pools, and the farther one prohibits you from getting down at pools edge centerline. The closer pool does have that access, and I was fully prepared to frame and shoot for this.
Thanks for your comments, my friend.
