Beks!!!
You are soooooo cool. Not for the BiP you granted . . . but for the comment. You see, initially . . . I agreed with your concept. I had a different color for each image's comments. But this is a collaboration and Robin vetoed that early on . . . so we continued until we found son=mething we both loved!! I still have a number of the early multi-colored text images . . . but the final image which we agreed on is . . . in my humble, yet genius and inspired opinion . . . is the cream of the crop.

Hey there Doyle....I like the un-even top of frame, I like the images (genius), I like the composition (inspired)...but what I don't like is the BLUE lettering....yeah, yeah...now you ask me for my colour choice, and I don't really have one, except maybe the creamy colour used for the title...or something else, just not the blue please. That aside I love this collaboration, nice to see two great visionaries coming together to form great art...LOL. Here is a little something for you...just cause I think it needs to appear here somewhere. Congrats on a great work and well deserved award. You guys ROCK!! cheers, Bek

Mel, thanks very much for the sentiment. But ripping a BiP in half? Sacrilege!! LoL! I'm thinking putting multiple BiPs for the same image in multiple postings might be something of a problem . . . but no matter. Robin and I very much enjoyed this project and take considerable pride in it. Since it is clear it belongs to us . . . I still Woooo Hoooo and claim the award. The check came to me though!! LoL! Really . . . this is a photography website and the photos are hers . . . so I think the choice, if there can be only one, was completely appropriate. We're both rightfully thrilled with the response and proud of the result . . . and thanks for the comment Mel!

A very interesting presentation!!!The Nature (flowers and leaf) are poetic in look and shape, but I find the frame very original and so cleverly constructed giving the images depth in their window-like-appearances. Original and very attractive result! Congratulations to you both,Robin & Doyle! YT

Thank you so much Elisa. More than 1/2 BiP . . . Robin and I received a full BiP! This is the exact same image . . . one image - one award . . . which WE won. But it can hang on our image posted in her portfolio . . . especially . . . in my way of thinking . . . since this is a photography website and the photography was hers!
Robin very kindly and humbly asked that I post this image in my portfolio alone . . . but I was uncomfortable with that since we worked hard on this and the fact is . . . while presentation is important and can make or break a photo . . . The photos are at least as important - if not more so. Either side can make or break a composition . . . but this is her photography . . . and a photography website. I suggested we both post it since we were both proud of it and it belonged in both our portfolios . . . and you should know that we both consider this OUR composition . . . and what will be will be. Frankly, neither of us even considered an award . . . to our credit this was about the work . . . and we take great pride in that. Truly this was a collaboration . . . it would never have been made without her inspiring a creative idea in my mind . . . and suggesting it to her . . . her soliciting my involvement . . . and supplying amazing images . . . . and the two of us discussing and reviewing alternatives and selecting the image you see.
That being said . . . I have numerous awards (including this one) and must say I was VERY glad to see the award hanging on her side of the fence. These are HER photographs . . . and frankly, I would have felt bad if the 'powers that be' put it here and not there . . . as it stands . . . there is no down side to this whole experience for me (or her) . . . no lingering guilt that would cause me to lose hours of sleep in a ceaseless cycle of remorse and guilt because she could not display our award on her side . . . LoL!
Thanks very much Elisa . . . always good to hear from you.

Ah yes :-) I like this better although maybe the white frame should be darker. I think that when having both photos, words and frames and in colours, then frames and background have to be as anonymous as possible. But you know IŽm merely an amateur trying to learn from all what I see, so there might be many other better advice. THanks for making this!:-) All the best Annemette

Sam: Sheeeeesh my friend . . . no need to be concerned about offending me! A major strength from this site is the critiques . . . although I don't underplay the value of getting pats on the back to keeping people trying either. But YOU Sam had darned sure BETTER be giving valuable nit-picky and honest critiques (at least as long as that's what you want to get from me) You have the eye and the skill to provide valuable insights . . . why waste that? I can get Pats on the back from one talented group of friends . . . and critiques from another group of talented friends . . . and a well-rounded experience in the end . . . :)
NOW . . . your high-low text box issue surely meant upper and lower perimeter and not raised and lowered (by drop shadow) since the letter boxes are the same in (shall we say) elevation off the page. If so . . . you are in agreement with a previous critique. Now consider this . . . IF the upper text boxes matched the lower in size and the line between the title "Seasons" ran parallel with the upper photo AND text boxes . . . I seriously think the drop shadow and, subsequently, the depth of the title bar will be obscured by the panels below it. I was thinking to avoid having text and images separated by what to my mind looked like grooves. At any rate . . . not to sound too defensive (probably too late - LoL!) . . . I did consider the opition you mention and I completely agree that your critique is valid. As such . . . I welcome it and click 'GOOD' because it's a good critique regardless of how wrong you are! LoL! Sam, it's always a pleasure. As I once mentioned to Robin (my co-conspiritor for this image) . . . after giving a detailed critique . . . "Did I mention how nice you look today?" LoL! Always good to have something good to say too! And you certainly did say some nice things.
My Best Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

Doyle, While I Love the images Robin has chosen, I find the layout a bit off. Not that it's a bad layout. But there is something amiss. What I think would have proven to be a better choice is, If you were going to go with the high low layout, then I would have done the same with the letter boxes. By having the bottom boxes on the same plane as the pictures looks good. Looking real hard at it I think that the fact that the top boxes are smaller is making the off kilter feel for me. I think that if you corrected that then you would have the perfect layout, because they would align with the top edges of the upper shots.
The idea has to be one of my most favorite ideas of all time and I think that with a minor adjustment you two will have achieved perfection. I can see this on a wall in very large format.
Doyle, all I have said is only my tiny opinion and it is not intended to detract from a fantastic image. I hope no offence is taken, as I would expect you to give your honest take on any of my images.
My best Regards Sam III

Firstly . . . Thanks very much Petal . . . especially for the close look. You've a good eye. The Winter / Summer combo of frame presentation match the Spring / Fall combo. In fact it was a personal choice and I did struggle with the idea of complete uniformity but the presentation became, then, somewhat too mechanical for my taste though I think others might well agree with it. I also toyed with NOT separating the text boxes from the images . . . but then it became an almost bland presentation (IMO) of four uneven blocks . . . and I particularly liked the idea of keeping those awesome images of Robin isolated from the presentation . . . and yet still a part of it. Text boxes were copy / pasted on the upper ends so upper boxes are the same size. Lower boxes were treated the same way and they match each other. Again, it was a personal choice and others may (and will) have other ideas . . . but I liked the straight line lower edge and opted to have an uneven upper to (in my mind) add a degree of interest in the whole . . . again . . . by avoiding a seemingly mechanical composition. Several of my earlier attempts . . . even several of the ones that made it to Robin's review . . . were very uniform and seemed to be lacking something. In the end . . . the problem became how to present a uniformity and relationship between images of various width . . . using text with unrelated variations in width . . . and yet get some sort of uniform consistency for the composition . . . and without Robin's Veto power . . . this would have been a remarkably less powerful image. She's such a stickler for detail she even insisted that I spell her name properly!! LoL!
Thanks again Petal, ever so much . . . this is the kind of critique that we love to see . . . if nothing else . . . it indicates our work is being looked at closely. (And 'fabulous' is such a wonderful thing to say)! :)

Doyle,
Good presentation. The key to this image is, of course, Robin's excellent photos. You pulled them together quite well, though, and you should both be proud with the results (I know I would be!)
Jason.

Ah, beautiful work - I like when people work together like this which is something I have also experienced. Wonderful flowers, but the frames IŽd personally make more simple - they somehow seem to take up too much space. I have to look up the titles that are not all known to me poor Dane;-) I like the idea of the changing seasons - very creative and poetically. Great work, Doyle and Robin!! Keep it up - share ideas and make some more! All the best Annemette

This collage collaboration is absolutely fabulous!!! Love the individual pics (wonderful colors, details, light and crops), but together they're even stronger. Fantastic framing and the words are very apt. Great 'project', but being a professional nitpicker there's one tiny comment: the framing, although great, lacks some uniformity in size and shape... the text boxes are somewhat smaller (and spring is also smaller height-wise) than the photo ones and 'winter and fall' have an embossed rim, while the two in between don't which is fine (and a personal choice)... but it gives a more 'uneven look' and distracts a bit from those wonderful pics... IMHO.

Robin & Doyle -- I have never seen such collaboration on USEFILM before and think it is very refreshing and unique. The idea of collaboration for our community is quite appealing when you consider how solitary photography is unto itself. As for the picture, the florals and the sentiments are superb and I especially like the way the "box" was carefully constructed with depth and shadow, Truly a notable production and my congratulations to you both. The "pano" view was somewhat useless on my monitor with the way this browser is set and I actually enjoyed it much more when viewing the entire image at one time. Bravo! --Best to you both, Jan
