Absolutely gorgeous! Man I wish we had owls like that around here. Where I live it's mainly barred owls and it is very rare to see them in the daytime.

One very beautiful owl here Todd. Difficult exposure I'd guess with all the white AND the lighting back and right . . . but you handled it like a master!! Impressive!

Thanks so much, Marcus! It was very difficult to get a good exposure as she is back-lit, but I am happy with the way it turned out. Hope that broken leg heals soon for you. Take care and happy new year.

Dave,
I'm not sure if the weather has as much to do with it as the food supply does. This female has been a regular winter resident in the same field for a number of years and showed up again this year, despite the lack of snow. I'm sure the weather has something to do with though.

Wonderful portrait of the owl, Todd! Excellent detail in the feathers and the eye is spectacular. Still haven't seen any of these here this year, maybe it's our unseasonal temperatures. Dave.
