Thanks all for the helpful comments. I love flower shots and I'm sure that with your help mine will get better and better. I have learned much by viewing all of your work on this site and putting it to practice in my new shots. Thanks again. :-)

This is better. The background is slightly darker than the subject thereby giving some separation to it. I like the focus here as I feel it gives some depth to the flower. Almost 3 dimentional.
