Thanks for your concern Jeroen! I really appreciate a good critique. The image was taken in Friesland. I don't know exactly where it was, but it was near Joure. On a trip with Peter Bolman. Perhaps you know this good photographer... Grtz Bernard ---- http://www.spiderpix.nl

Very nice shot Jeroen, this is a deserved award!!! But I like to tell you some thinks. I don't agree with many words you have used against me ("Grand High Mufti Leonardo", and many others), but it's ok, lets finish that question, and forget it. You, as a judge, can delete that thread, and I really think is the best thing to do. My objective wasn't confusion or faith at all. I would like to keep making nominations from other photographers, because I reaaly love to apreciate good photographs. So, I ask you again, let's forget that discussion! Leo

Jeroen: This image is very well done. The warm golden color with it's various hues and the blended light levels are pleasing to the eye and the dark upper and lower portions of the image work very well to not only contain that magical color but also to pull the eye into the image. As Roby mentioned, an outstanding atmosphere. The tack sharp silhouetted foliage in the foreground makes this a much better image to appreciate than it would otherwise have been . . . and the man-made structures on the distant bank make for a nice, though subdued, accent to the composition. You've exposed perfectly to retain details in even the brightest orange clouds . . . and the sunbeams look both realistic (unlike the PS sunbeams one often sees added to compositions) and very tranquil. The mirrored water surface reflection of this brilliant, warm light seems to indicate a slower shutter speed and I think many would have used that slower shutter speed for that reason; but it's not necessary . . . and you have to pay the price for that with less focal clarity on the all-important foreground foliage. Awesome image Jeroen!
