I second and third what everyon has said already. You picke a great background with the blooming redbuds, however try to move down the fence a little where the bird crap is not on it. Keep 'em comming!!!
Hi Kelly, I agree with all the points Subha Pindiproli has made in his/her (forgive me Subha) critique. In addition I think that the background flowers are distracting to the main subject, the girl. Using Photoshop or some other image modification software try and make this look out of focus, this will enhance your picture and concentrate the viewers eyes on the model. Good luck and well done with this shot thus far...
a few things that can be improved with this shot.. in descending order of priorities.. first her dress is too simple and plain, it looks like neither you nor her were prepared for this shot. With a colorful floral background and given her light complexion, i would rather go with a bright color top such a bright yellow or maybe green to complement the pink background colors. The shorts is fine. Next her legs are underexposed.. you may want to use shoe mount flash or use reflector foil (golden) which can be done in a cheap manner. She looks stiff and concious that you are taking the picture.. to take effective pictures you should position the camera and hold a long electronic shutter, and talk to her.. tell her a joke and get her to speak something she likes.. As she speaks she would have various expressions, and click your shutter.. she would have no clue that you are taking the picture.. that is the effective way to do so.. and lastly the image is soft.. so you need to use 'unsharp mask' in PS to sharpen it..
Please look forward for my photo posting of a yellow flower shot when it is raining.. It is a film scan, and i sharpened it using my SuperJPG image software (best for viewing slides).. found at : www.superjpg.com and cleaned up artifacts using neatimage. Best film scanning software is: VueScan..
