great lighting is key to shots of flowers of this kind. i tried taking pictures of floral close up's with my new Nikon CoolPix 4500, and realized that sunlight alone will not bring out the best in floral shots the lighting needs to be arranged and co-ordinated.. please view my flower.. http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=120835
