It's not as scary as they make it sound. My Rebel needed a cleaning after a couple years of use. This time, on my 30D, it go blasted. I still don't know how. I didn't even notice a breeze at the time.
I took it to a camera shop this time and the salesman showed me how to get it off (instead of insisting I check it in for a "pro cleaning"). You use a "Rocket Duster" by Giotto, holding the camera upside down while the sensor is exposed. It got the durt and dust right off. I ended up buying one of them for about $12.

You're welcome, Dave!:) Sorry to hear that. I've been warned about how to care for mine, but I'm so used to not having to worry about it with my regular camera that I'm afraid I'll forget.

Thanks, Shirley. Yes, I ended up dusting my sensor and didn't know it until the next day, effectively messing up a lot of photos. Had to take it in and get it cleaned in the middle of my trip.

Oooh...cool photo and effects, Dave!:) Had problems after changing lenses? Seems digital cameras are a lot more vulnerable.
