Nice shot Latif, on the surface quite an abstract looking shot but plenty of detail once you start to look harder. An unusual point of view.

This is a fascinating shot. On the one hand, it is a record of a significant and traditional custom. On the other, it presents an unusual graphic image - I really like the way you have captured such a large number of people from a somewhat unexpected angle, and the horizontal blue lines work beautifully. An excellent image.

A unique view, Latif. I thought it was a telephoto image, with the narrow field of view. To my surprise, 24mm. It must be quite a memorable event each year.

Hi Latif,
I appreciate your response to all of my many questions very much . You help me to learn better about Your country, and the month of Ramadan. I thank you for this as I do care, and I am learning because of your detailed response.
I think Americans should try this a few months a year !!! Well ... I do . Obesity and fast food , etc. is not progresss .. It's embarrassing... and it is a sickness I do understand.. but this and the faith would really help.
Honestly, Michele~

Hi Michele... happy to see you here and read your interesting comment.. Well, we Muslim fast from sunrise (Fajer in Arabic) till sunset (Maghreb) and the main essence of fasting is to feel the feeling of the poor people and to worship God (Allah, the almighty) with this pillar of Islam. Usually we brake fast with few dates to compensate the lost of sugar in the blood as Prophet Mohammad (Peace and Blessing of Allah be upon him), with some water and Arabian coffee if available.
The month of Ramadan is 30 day as in the Islamic calendar (lunar year) and this year it's a bit hot here in Saudi Arabia (40 degree C., so it's a bit difficult :)
to be continued
best regards
Latif

I think this is almost an excellent image... I would give it an excellent but can't view the breakfast in front of your people... I am curious as to if this is all liquids... a tea, a juice, ... water... ? Does anyone eat food of any kind for this month ? I think it is wonderful if they don't , but also if one is sick and in need of nourishment... they should get soup or something to help heal... I am an American who believes in fasting but only for 5 days most for me. I am small and would have to sleep for the month with-out food after 5 days... just rice ...would work. I am sincerely interested. I do enjoy the great mass of images ... so I don't fault you not being able to show small items of cups, etc. It's a great image. Congratulations, Peace, & Health, Michele~
