About
This beautiful coastline of towering limestone cliffs, rising up to 70 metres (230 ft) was a treacherous stretch of NAVIGATION for the sailing ships of our infant colony. Luckily technology and power driven craft have reduced the terrible loss of life and ships that sailed from England or Africa east along the 'Roaring Forties' to end in disaster after sighting the country of destination. I have seen the FORCE of the WIND from the South Pole create huge swells that THUNDER upon the rocks and the spray flying up and over the top! Just recently one of the Twelve Apostles COLLAPSED into the sea under the constant barrage.
Hi M, You're very kind to go to so much trouble for the detailed comment. I feel if anyone goes to the trouble to SUBMIT an entry, it should have SOME blurb to give the viewers that are NOT familiar to that part of the world an insight. Unfortunately some members leave ALL details off, which is a shame, because their photos would have far greater impact for that little more effort. As regards the sky, the day was o/cast and no shadows to lose details in, although the OCEAN comes up an emerald color, similar to Hawaii pics seen. I just remembered, I have another pic of that shoreline that you might like. I will attach it. Enough of my ramblings, it's Saturday night here, and I am going to BED EARLY ! Thanks again for your comment, Michele. Kind Regards JD
I remember this Shipwreck Beach and the ship was wrecked on it too ! You said you could only get to it by boat now... right?
It's a beautiful and trecherous coastline...reminds me a bit of here in Oregon... a LOT actually. The water is sooo gorgeous... and I do like 'no sky' or 'white' sky ... Anyway I like it so much I think it's an excellent image.
The other thing I like about it is all the history and information in your 'about' section... It's very interesting and adds so much for the viewer to know what they are looking at depth , height, and historically... I wish everyone did this... Great shot JD, 7+++
