Very cute capture ~ I can't remember ever seeing black squirrels and would love to photograph them ~ the larger grey squirrels have taken over here in the UK ... ousting the smaller red squirrels except for little pockets of the country ... regards, susie

Hmm, I'm not sure, but squirrels are a pretty common sight in Ontario.
For photographing your dog, I'd suggest putting him behind a light and/or neutral contrasting background in daylight/good lighting and using fill flash.

We see these black squirrels every time we visit Vancouver. I've always been surprised that I don't see them around where we live (which is just about 45 minutes south, just across the border). I guess they just like it better in Canada!
Great capture of this little guy. You were able to get some detail around his face which can be very difficult with the black. I always had a hard time trying to get a good shot of my dog's black face.
