About Although Oil refineries like this monster at Grangemouth are not everybody's idea of beauty I have to admit I was very taken with the effect of cross over lighting at twilight and the tungsten, fluorescent and mercury vapour lamps festooning the pipe work. The velvia and the required long exposure added additional colour through the effects of reciprocity failure. Hope you enjoy, the colours are very accurate but quite subtle. Ian, for two years I worked in the research labs of a complex like that at Billinghan. I wasn't taking photographs at the time, and now wish I had been. You have captured this complex looking its best, I'm sure. Quite beautiful in its own way!

These always fascinate me, too, Ian. This is a most wonderful dusk capture...just perfect!:)

Hi Ian,

I always love these industrial scenes - there's so much to see in them. they're beautiful in their own way.

I do like the use of almost complementary colours - it creates a very unusual, and surprising atmosphere.

Very well done.

Cheers,

Hugo
