I believe this is an older one, but still part of a herd. When they get really old, they often get forced out of the herd by the younger males and end up wandering around alone. My guide called these older ones "Old Generals" in reference to Bob Marley's song "Buffalo Soldiers", joking that they were retired and enjoying their pension of all the grass they could eat.

Great composition, I love the curve of the horns right through the photograph. Superb details. The horns look quite battered, would this be an older specimen? Cathy
