No, no...I don't mean to imply that it's not okay at all. I like it and it's very interesting. I think i"m just torn between the static vertical feeling and the REALLY energetic feeling you created with the framing of the bridge horizontally. Besides, don't question work just because 1 person doesn't like something. I'm just another person with his own opinion.
Still a marvelous photo, I say. :-) J

Jacob -
Yes. I think I did have a polarizer that day. Tones are all PS, baby with some time spent in quick mask mode.
Horizontally? Yeah, rule of thirds, rule of thirds, etc. I somehow was thinking this would be OK, but I guess not...

Hey, Michael!
I like the shot and the tones are great. Good job on the even exposure, I don't see anything blown out. Did you use a polarizing filter for the reflections?
My only "issue" here is the even division in the photo horizontally. Seems more static than I usually like...
...of course your composition with the road and curved lines of the breakers/pylons in the distance work really well.
An interesting photo to view.
Well done, and keep up the great work! J

Welcome to usefilm.
I use B+W when the colors are really muted and do not contribute or have anything to say to the overall photograph. Black and White has a way of focusing the eye to the composition and is a great way to get to the basis of the photograph's graphic quality.
In this photograph, a bridge would normally be a heavy and static object, but I tried to show only pieces of the detailed structure close to me by pushing most of it off the frame, only showing half of the road and embankment (since you know what a whole road looks like if you see only half of it) and then letting the rest zig into the other corner to make for a nice acceration curve. This leads the eye back and away off the photo - adds a little bit of zing to the whole thing.
Thanks for looking.
