Thanks Andree for the comment and the PS version of the shot. While your impression was that the title suggested "motion out of the fire", in fact, the title is the title of the movie filmed by Universal Studios and from which this effect was shot. While the car may appear to be standing still in the shot . . . you can tell the rear wheels are already OFF the ground and less than a second later the entire car was more than ten feet off the ground and over our heads. It certainly was NOT as motionless as my fast shutter speed may seem to make it! Also . . . what appears to be grain on the windshield and smoke in general is really nothing more than a spray mist of (I assume) water which was used to suggest smoke and increase reflective properties on the vehicle and the ground.
I appreciate the critical eye you have given this shot and the time you spent in your suggestions . . . keep up the good work (and thanks for spending so much time on my behalf)!

Well photographed. But the title suggest motion out of the fire and in the shot the car looks static (standing still). I hope you don't mind, I have selectively applied a motion filter to parts of the image, I have sharpen the front of the car, and minimized the grain on the windshield. Here is an example of what I mean. :) Andree

Awesome capture Doyle - what perfect timing and composition! Love how you've caught the rear end of this GTI off the ground, really adds to the excitement.
I must say though, as an import car enthusiast, I'm not too fond of the extra attention these FATF movies cause on the streets ;) They're cracking down on modified cars all over the Bay Area. But on the other hand, it does boost up sales for certain items at the performance shop I work at :)

Hi Doyle, I think we have had issues with street racing for a very long time. This isn't something that happened overnight. It's in our culture :) Remember James Dean in Rebel Without A Cause? How about American Graffiti? From Chuck Berry to The Beach Boys to Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run. I could go on and on. Most of us lived it at one time or another. And some didn't live to talk about it.

Andre: Thanks for the comments . . . we have issues here, suprisingly enough, that do this street racing nonsense too. Every now and then a Ferrari or Porshe gets wrapped around a telephon pole on the Pacific Coast HWY. Timing on this shot was luck . . . or a display of my psychic abilities! :)

Nice shot of this Golf Doyle! It's those little details like that rear wheel slightly off the ground that make the image special. Well done
Ps That movie is causing a renewed stirr with the police vs street racers in the Toronto area. There are police cruisers parked near all the parking lots where the movie is playing, just watching how the kids drive away from the lots. Andre

Thanks Jennifer . . . the title of the movie gave me the title here . . . The visually spectacular chase sequence inspired by the movie "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" used advanced robotics and state-of-the-cinematic-art computer generated "pre-visualization" technology that literally thrust us into close-up range of the pulse-pounding, rubber-burning underground world of street racing. Very cool display!
