In your series with this lovely actress I think this is the best for her expression and her face painted with light...

My fave of the lot. A simple turn and smile. This shows little but promises much. I do like the simple natural approach. I did like, "Heel" a lot.... a deceptively cool angle and such, but the angle took away from the focal point. This one does all for me... Of the bunch.... soft gray wall against the grey/blue eyes... best of the crowd.

Beautiful girl, beautiful light. I made a couple of adjustments, hope you don't mind. I think maybe a lower camera angle would be a little more pleasing. Don.

A sultry look. The tighter crop versions seem to emphasise that aspect by narrowing in on the eyes. It is a good idea, Paul. Sometimes, but not always, less is more! Tightly cropped, I like it the best of the series. The model is quite theatrical and, to my taste, sometimes over does it. Here the balance is great! Eb

Yes, in evaluating where I'd crop the bottom, I arrived at the same point, Bill. Thanks for the help, man. This is a great community.

With your permission, Paul. While this is an interesting mood lighting, it is definitely tough for most young ladies. Here it is still a beautiful portrait.

I think it is a wonderful image - with a lot of energy in the eyes, but I find myself agreeing with Lubi.
In fact, I would crop it just a little closer to the shoulder in a more horizontal framing. It would bring the focus more to the expression and it's like the Italians will tell you - "Say it with your eyes" - this should be of particular interest if she is an actor.
In some of the other shots it is apparent that the girl has beautiful hair, but I don't think it works as well here. The tighter crop gives it more a feeling of spontaneity.
Just my thoughts. Bill
P.S. To brighten up the expression I right-clicked on the image and brought it into PS - created a "layer as copy", applied the diffused glow filter to the background layer using white as the primary color. My diffused glow settings were no grain, glow between 6 and 7, clear amount 15. I changed the opacity on the top layer to about 75%. But you might want to try playing with the ratios. I thought this gave her face a softer contrast.

She's a wonderful actress and just LOVES to 'ham it up' in front of the camera (her words).
Thank you Kambiz.

To me, this isn't as strong, as you lose the lovely cascade of hair well past her shoulders, Lubi.

Yes, you certainly may suggest a crop, Lubi. My opinion is that photography is subjective, and therefore, there is NEVER a 'perfect' photo; merely one which evokes the mood intended.
Suggest away...

Great to hear you had fun with her Paul! This is the best I think. Lubi's crop works really well I think. More of a modern feel that suits her age. I would have used a reflector to lose the darkness under her eyes.
