About	A Family. The picture was taken over a table covered with a piece of black velvet. The light is from a desk lamp at the side. A piece of white paper was used in the opposite side to fill in the shadows.

This is nice but I think I prefer #III though.
The critique in this image would be the same as in the other that it appears somewhat soft and that the light gets a bit hard on certain areas. Did you try using some kind of diffuser? If it's a regular office lamp try draping a cloth over it, toilet-paper - anything to spread out the light a bit and soften it a bit.
