About
Where I live, the earth is mostly RED-CLAY...It's a rich-red and sometimes it's confusing to those who have never seen this color Earth, much like I'm confused when I venture to Arkansas and see the Rich,Jet-Black Delta Soil which make up their Delta Landscape...Shot this while riding the back-roads around my home and was took by the Rich Color Schemes, the Shadows, the Wash-out and the Patterns before me...I got off about three images on a tripod just as the Sun faded behind a large evening cloud...Yea, This is the South: The Red-Clay Hills and the Hot-Humid Climate and the Mosquitoes and Cottonmouths... And the Good Country Folk's doing the best they know how...
This scene is probably best captured the way you did, with low light and shadows. You are right, it makes for an interesting abstract of sorts, not to mention the patterns in nature. Good job.
Excellent photo, Greg! I like the foreground lead-in and emphasis on the clay forms. All capped with grass silhouette. The accent to the composition is in the detailed small pines. Eb
ok,i know the pt. here is to show off the rich red clay which i remember in GA.,too, but i bet a 2nd version in B/W might be effective, too, because it would emphasize the forms/light/shadow...just a thought...this image fits the project nicely and i like the contrast of colors, perspective and contrast level...
forgot to ask previously, but do you live in or near the katrina hit areas?
And when are ya gonna send me some hush puppies and real MMP (mud pie)?...trade ya for our PNW Alder Smoked Salmon and logger dark roast java...or whatever else ya might want to try from WA state... regards, gayle (will return later...my email is in my bio info)
