There are a few things that strike me as odd in this photo. The softness in more than one aspect (focus, tonal range, hue and contrast) reduces the impact and appeal of this photo, IMO. It makes me wonder why you selected this combination of softness and tone, It induces IMO a rather forced and quite unfitting atmosphere. Eventhough the weather seems to be overcast, I'd say a straight up colour version would create a more intimate feel.
Eventhough the scene itself is interesting enough, I find the bucket on the right rather redundant, it's a bit too much, as it takes away my attention from the interaction and hesitant approach of one another, splitting the subjects into two. And in that respect, I don't think the bucket adds anything to the image nor to the narrative element in it. In the situation itself, I think it would've been difficult if not impossible to keep it outside the view, but cloning it out in PS seems to be an option.
I realise this all sounds rather negative, but as I saw this shot in the CC area, I thought I'd let you know what I feel about it...
