I like this photo a lot, Steve. The quasi-silhouette look is great. The distribution of darks and lights is very pleasing, and the composition is quite good. One thing you might consider would be to crop the photo differently to bring us closer to the woman and dog. I appended a rough idea. You could even crop closer than I did. Well done!! Steve

Hi Steve, very good backlit image, the silhouettes and tones in the rippled water are well captured.
I also like the surprising element, the rather introvert and seemingly contemplative pose of the girl creates a strong contrast with the joyful and energetic action of the dog. At least, that's what I make of it. Probably not exactly what was going on, but more a coincidental moment...
As to the composition, I think zooming in a bit more, consising the view on girl and dog might emphasise the importance of the main subjects in this photo. The dark patch in the top right quadrant seems a bit excessive to me.
Nice shot, well captured.
Cheers,
Hugo

i love the timing and composure, but my focus keeps drifting around to the various light reflections and not on the child/dog. maybe some croping or burning could heplp this?
but nice image.

The sun coming through the openings of the bench, the girl bending over, the dog splashing... the all combine into a well balanced image.
