photo taken Apr 2006 under magnified flourescent lighting, inversion by post production editing projectile point artifact from Bar Harbor, ME found in 1966. Authenticated as an Otter Creek type projectile point of felsite, graded G-5, 4300-6000 years old.
Thanks Bill, this one didn't come with a "born on" date, :( It's very exciting to find such a rare treat. You should definitely post your quartz treasure! I'm sure it would spark great interest. I know I would enjoy studying it!
Gracias por sus comentarios buenos Alicia. Encontré este punto del proyectil en 1966 mientras que saltaba piedras en la resaca en el puerto de la barra, Maine. Descubrí recientemente que un segundo en en mi hogar York nueva y est en el proceso del tenerlo authenticó por un arqueólogo cerca. ¡Es difícil decir si el artefacto fue creado por un hombre de las cavernas, un indio norteamericano, o la puerta siguiente del adolescente! I found this projectile point in 1966 while skipping stones into the surf in Bar Harbor, Maine. I recently discovered a second at my home in New York and am in the process of having it authenticated by an archeologist nearby. It's difficult to tell if the artifact was created by a caveman, North American Indian, or the teenager next door! LOL It will be interesting to see what the experts say. Pretty cool stuff though!
J, Nice point. I've been collecting arrow heads for about 10 years now. 90% of mine are from the Ohio River Valley. I have one that's 9000yrs old and made of quartz. You can see right through it.
