I really like this one, Ann. I don't know why the shallow depth of field works for me in this one, but not in the other. I think it may be because here the wing nut seems to almost melt into the background. Very nice! Steve
As with the other photo of the wingnut you put up in the CC area, I think the DOF is just a tad too shallow. As you say, you're attempting an "artistic" approach here, and I think inserting a stronger perspective would've brought you closer to your goal; Even though the shallow DOF does create the feel for dimensions, the head-on approach makes it a bit static; Just a thought, and a subjective one at that...
I do like the placement of the focus, the textures and details in the bolt are excellent. Nice capture, no doubt about that.
