A panoramic triptych of my previous three posts (The Wind Up, The Shot, The Save) as suggested by Douglas Coffey (Thanks) in order to view them as they should be seen. Taken at the NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Semifinals (The Frozen Four) Elmira College vs Middlebury College
Hey Eric, Love the triptych. This should be useful to every hockey coach as an example of why a "wrist shot" should be developed before a "slap shot". In the 1st shot everyone, goalie included, is out of position. A simple wrist shot would have been in the net before anyone had a chance to move. But the shooter chooses to use a slap shot with a very long wind up as evidenced by shot number 2. Giving the goalie a chance to set up and subsequently make the save. Excellent work Eric.
Hi Eric, I have to agree that posting these three using the panoramic feature is a great idea. A fine, action packed triptych.
The strength of each of the individual images is in their up close composition, and the tree together make the presentation even stronger. I believe that's the essential key to a successful triptych.
An easy to make critique (much harder to accomplish that when taking the photos) is that I miss the actual puck in this series. Maybe I haven't looked close enough, but if it weren't for your sub-titles, I wouldn't have been able if this was a goal or a save...
Incredible difference between the panoramic view and the image in the comment window where the image quality is concerned; this one sure should be seen full size! The DOF works very well, even-though it places the dominant player (initiating the slap-shot) out of focus; it diverts the viewers attention to the goalie perfectly, turning him into the primary subject.
