This is a beautiful image, Amit. The logs in the foreground look like the rib bones of some giant extinct creature. I have the opposite reaction to Hugo's in a way. For me the logs interest me more than the background. I think a lower point of view might have been quite interesting. You title the image "Split Rock Lighthouse - revisited", and the lighthouse is barely discernible. Steve

This image took me aback slightly it is so moody and dramatic but effective in being so. I quite like it but it looks too much like a painting, it seems to have lost its photographic quality somehow. I agree with Hugo that the log is quite threatening and restrictive covering the full foreground but i think this works well- giving it an aggressive charm that creates an unnerving feeling. Great stuff!

Thanks for your feedback Hugo. It's very much appreciated. As I said in the title (...revisted), I was trying out something different this time w/ the lighthouse and wanted to equate the dynamism in the b/g with the f/g. The light lasted for a few secs and hence couldn't get a closeup of the lighthouse w/ the dynamic sky. Will try it again next time.

Hi Amit, intersting concept, but it does look fabricated. Also, as the logs take up most of the bottom side of the photo, it seems to block the view a bit, as well create a unsettling feeling. To me, the beauty of this shot is in the background, with skyscape over the peninsula. The logs in the foreground are a bit of a distraction in that respect, as they split up the image, and take up a too dominant place in the whole image. Hope you see what I mean.
Cheers,
Hugo
