About Last in the recent series, I left the colour as accurate as possible although it did tend to sway towards the blue tones. If you look closley you will see the trail of a fishing boat passing.

Very ethereal. The symmetry of the wash and the clouds is excellent and it feels as if the foreground is floating on air.

Hi Hugo,

The D100 gives me noise for any exposure over 6 seconds so I'm always at a loss there! I suppose in a lot of ways the colour was never going to be accuarte on the above, it was too dull and had I have went for totoal accuracy the tones would have been muddy. Equally,I found that leaning towards tones, other than blue, made the image look a bit fake. I weighed up my options and went with the blue hue mainly because it contrasted nicely with the rich yellow light from the buildings. I fully agree with you on the saturation - it can be used to extreams - however in this case it seems to give a wow factor to people viewing - this is another reason why I ran with it. Feel free, if you have the time, to whip it off this site and play with it to see what you come up with. I'd be interested to see what you would do with it.

As always thanks for the constructive comments.

Rgds,
Shane

Hi Shane, I dig the concept here, the excessive blue tones add to the atmosphere, using the slow shutter-speed to soften the water, and adding the suspense to the atmosphere. Not sure if it's due to the UF image handling or the post-processing, but the blue hue is just a tad too saturated and extreme. It starts to show the noise in the brighter spots.. I think desatureating the cyan levels a bit, as well as decreasing their brightness, and at the same time increasing the yellows, reds and magenta levels would balance the tonal range a tad more.... Hue/saturation is a very powerful tool, but as with any photoshop feature, easy does it...:)

Nevertheless a very strong and powerful shot, with an extremely strong feel!

Cheers,

hugo

I like the athmosphere of the blue light, you could keep shooting with this technique with variations of light - just a pity its such a long drive.

Very beautiful long exposure image, I saw the streak of light, then read your about on the fishing boat...I really like the effect of the water with the long exposure, the rocks in the forground provide a perfect natural frame, and your black wide frame complements the image very well. An image to be proud of for sure! Regards,Bill C.
