Thanks Elisa. So, to put you on the spot so to speak, which photo do you like better? My original post or the subsequent one in the comments here showing more sky and less snow? I don't really know if I have a preference, but I thought I would ask as see what others feel... Cheers, Gary (o:

Different whites/textures beautifully combined. Pictures where earth touches the sky always fascinate me. I wouldn“t change a thing here, although it“s a CC image :) Well done, Gary!

Hi Gary, This is exactly what I had in mind. As to the choice between the two, the differences are very subtle, but I think I would prefer the one you attached to your reply.
As I said in one of my previous comments, I think the textures in the snow are a very important element in this shot. By limiting the view on the snow field, I think both the simplicity of the scene as well as the importance of those textures are emphasised, making it a tad stronger. At least to me...
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Hugo... hmmm interesting that you should mention that!! I just so happen to have one with the horizon more or less on the bottom third... I just never know which one I like better. Always a dilemma for me... Cheers, Gary

Hi Gary, I think you could also achieve that by placing the horizon on the lower third in stead of on the top third, but I do see your point....:)

Hi Hugo... thanks for the great comment. Yes, I was thinking of maybe cropping some of the snow off, but decided just to leave it as a "thirds" kind of shot! Cheers, Gary

Hi Gary, yep, this looks good to me too... Well captured, showing the details and textures in the snow. The simple composition shows just about enough to make it interesting and catch the eye. think this would do very well in panoramic format, cropping a bit off the snow field, concising the view a bit. I think it would emphasise the structure of the snow, as well as the flowing lines in the hill. Very nice shot.
Cheers,
Hugo
