Thanks for your comment Chitra, I do agree that the 'rule of thirds' does work, especially to balance out images, but I have so many images that conform to the same rules, and there are so many images on usefilm that conform to the same rules, I wanted to be intentionally different as Im bored of the 'overly perfect' landscape shots I see everyday. I love your Vignettes of Kerala series, such a beautiful place and technically sound, its nice to see images of landscapes in a portrait frame, love it! Katy

Katy, Thank you very much for your comment on my photo. I always appreciate a new and different viewpoint. It was nice to know your opinion (about the center photo in my collage). This is a very nice photo. I like the expanse and texture in the land. Sometimes horizon in the center works, but I am not sure here. I feel placing the tree to the third would help. Rule of thirds might be a cliche, but I feel it is one rule that works most of the time.

hi, personally i would crop down from top to just a peek of blue sky so that the proportions are not split in half....i love the expanse of land, perspective, grain and the darker rich earthy color....how did you fair in the Fuji contest? regards, gayle

I love this shot katy. However, my mind is also asking what it would have looked like if you had the tree on the left quadrant interseccion, meaning lower horizon and larget sky area.
Any way, great shot, and I like the grain effect too.
Good Job and thanks for your comments.

seems to be a prob with the sky, low far right, maybe over cropped, nice compo, thanks for looking in & comment on lightwave, the only ps work was the swirl effect, otherwise as shot, if look at coset & go with the flow, you will see what i mean, regards art,.

While I love the colors in the shots and the elements that you have placed in the frame.. I am somehow not in the favour of a 50-50 composition with the sky and the land. Also the central placement of the lonely tree does not justify the beauty of the landscape. Great Place to be in.! Regards!

I like the perspective in where you've placed the tree and the horizon, an excellent image Katy
