Pat, that is an interesting observation! It does look fabric like - even more so at full resolution. The lighting is two flash on each side, very close but diffused, and under a tent contraption I made. I set flashes' output two stops apart. The tent effect reduces the effect of the two stop lighting ratio. Eb

Eb - This looks like a "fabric". One of the great things about micro photography - it changes one's perspective of how everyday objects are viewed (in my opinion). The purple-lavendar streaks almost look like dye. Great capture.

Thanks Susie! It's true, the cold air we send down your way and not sure what we should do with the hot air. :) Carnation seems to be a difficult flower to photograph in macro. There is no one point of interest. So I thought of going for depth of field and sharpness. EB

Pretty Eb! I agree, it's been very cold outside. Hopefully we've seen the end of it. We were enjoying that cold air from the Frasier Valley all last week... ) Enough! I like your tight framing on this and great focus. Well done. Susie
