About TSgt Monk, a Air Force Combat Cameraman, chase after Soldiers from Apache Troop 2-7 Cavalry during combat operation in Fallujah armed only with his camera and a 9mm pistol - Nov 2004. TSgt Monk was my partner during Combat Operations in Fallujah, he did an outstanding job of documenting these Soldiers and telling their story.

Brian,

It is really easy to get lost behind lens and forget that you are a target too...but when a few rounds zing by you...you quickly come back to the real world...and stay focused on the task at hand...

Best Wishes,
Chuck

Certainly looks like a dangerous thing to be doing with all of his concentration and focus of the activity infront of him. Then again there you are in the thick of things also. Take care..Brian

Wow, fascinating collection of your colleagues in action with the camera! They are almost indistinguishable from the combat troops, it has to be such a dangerous profession. It also requires great physical shape, and quick thinking, and to imagine that you can even think of pulling artistic compositions, and think of exposure and details like that is mind boggling.
Great work, and I wish you and the others to be safe :) Excellent documentary journalism Chuck, thanks for sharing!

Okay this is my main ComCam teammate -- SPC DeCosta -- We where in Baghdad, Samarra and An Najaf together...his main background is Multi-Media...but he does a good job shooting both video and stills...you can see him running in on the far left...with his video camera in had...

This a photo of U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. John Foster - he shot this himself while on patrol in Iraq in 2006. John and I where in An Najaf, Iraq together in 2004 on a mission. He really is an awesome photographer. John is assigned to the 1st Combat Camera Squadron, S.C.

This is a photo that I shot of a Civilian Combat Journalist that was with us during combat operations in Fallujah - he was hit by a mortar while conducting an interview with the commander of Apache Troop, 2-7 Cavalry - he was not hurt to bad and was back to work that day - reporting on the Soldiers of Apache Troop. I thought I'd share these photos with everyone so they can get a feel for what Combat photographers and journalist do.
