hi susie ,open each shot in CS2/PS so you have 3 images open.simply choose the shot you want to have has your foreground(doesnt really matter which one) then click on another image and simply drag it on to the 1st shot.then use eraser tool to remove the areas you want to reveal.it has better results when using identical photos at different exposures! i suggest making a copy of all the shots first and then play around with it until you feel comfortable and get used to the process.the OPACITY percentage tool can be very helpfull as well.it is long winded to explain and its taken me several months of getting it wrong so dont expect excellent results at first as i now shoot many images with intention of using layers when i get home.so im thinking when i take the shot not later!.

Hi again Brian, When you say you layered 2 shots in PS can you quickly point me in the direction of how you did that? I took 3 exact shots today with different exposures and want to layer them together. If it's too detailed don't bother. Thanks Brian. Susie

hello john ,thanks for the comment and yes as ive commented above i used CS2 to layer identical shot at two eposures.no sharpening actually softened due to shooting at a noisy ISO 400 in an overcast sky.as for removing the wires ive began to accept that it is the way our countryside is now so i just put up with it but i understand what you would like to see.

A superb effect, though it looks like there's been a bit of PS work, so I'm going to have a bit of a go at this one:
- you might consider removing the wires in the sky on either side of the building. - I feel a little more sky above the church would make the image feel a little less claustrophobic (although maybe you were aiming for this effect). - there is some ghosting / haloing around the roof, perhaps resulting from sharpening?
Just my point of view, but I hope it is constructive.
John

im flattered susie .i never new this building was there which is only a mile from home until yesterday so i ended up taking some 20 shots at different angles and different exposures.there is two exposures layered ,the clouds are underexposed to get a storm feeling and the building and surroundings is a normal exposure, then just layered kind of manual bracketing i guess.its easy to layer as well as only the exposure is different.
