Hi Brian, First, let me say this: I love your moody landscapes. The way you portray grass is very much to my liking, especially when it takes front row center, and is sharp, as it is here, and in many of your pictures. I don't know what a coffee grad filter is, but the clouds are exceptional, and the sky coloration is like an oil painting. Superb perspective and tonal balance :) Best regards, Ina

hi rina well thanks for the comments and quite flattering they are. However im far from a pro ive only been dabbling which has now become addictive since september last year. However i owe a lot to my friend Brendan and many users at Usefilm. I see a lot of shots that i just cant do in this country, though it inspires me to look for those shots and try to get the most out of my surrounding areas. All of my landscapes etc are done within a two mile radius from my home. Ideas i get from Usefilm are a valuable tool in learning and like your own shots and many others allows me to see things different .
thats enuff ill end up writing a book!!!
thanks again
brian

Brian, you're one of a few photographers here that actually disclose the entire EXIF info. Shutter and aperture are sometimes enough, but knowing exactly what was going on in the camera at the time, is a huge bonus. For example, you were fully manual as opposed to AP, which helps to understand your other setting choices. And the coffee grad filter does some pretty interesting things too!
The outcome - well, that speaks for itself, doesn't it? Beautiful, dreamy, haunting... inspirational.
Thank you for leaving such a wonderful comment on 'gambogian'. Coming from a pro like yourself, is just like winning the lottery! Cheers :)) Rina

i used a coffee grad filter on the sky , i didnt want to saturate the whole image has the sharpness and the natural whiteness of the grass and water would have dissapeared.also fading the grad into the clouds created two unbalanced colours.so i went for 50/50 setting.the grass and river remains as seen in original photo .the clouds slightly darkened to get a even contrast. hope that helps. Whilst im here for those who often see to soften pictures from there EOS 350D there is a setting to adjust the result. It can be found in the parameters by default it is set to SOFT!.Just adjust Sharpness to full!.
thanks Brian
