She's flirting with you, Pierre. You sure went to a lot of trouble to get this. It turned out great, though. I like your placement of him in your composition. Your framing of this is very effective. MAry

Pierre,
What a great shot! I was out to visit this guy yesterday morning, and he wasn't nearly as cooperative as he was that day. Too bad. It was a nice sunny day.

I think you took the right approach here, Pierre! You got a terrific image to work with, and if, and when, you get another chance you can work on the niceties! If you had waited for everything to be perfect you might have missed the chance altogether. You ended up with a very nice shot here! Dave.

Many thanks, Mark! It was my first attempt trying to photograph these beautiful owls. Afraid that he might fly away, I left my tripod in the car and rushed to take the shot hand-holding my 480mm telescope with the camera at the other end. It was a challenge to manually focus with one hand, while using the other hand to press the shutter and hold the camera. A little painful on the fingers out in freezing temp without gloves! But the result was worthwhile and eventually paid off. I wanted to try and photograph an owl for a while and on my first attempt I get one that winks at me :0) By hand holding the tall scope, there was lots of shaking so I used as fast a shutter speed I could given the overcast day to get a sharp image. The downside was underexposure and only with the help of Photoshop could I restore the image. Next time, I'll take my time to setup the tripod and do a proper shoot. One thing I realize is that these owls don't seem to mind human presence too much as long as I stayed very quiet and took only baby steps to get closer.
