Oh Eb...tsk tsk tsk....at least I only do harm to myself with my occasional "stunt photography" but I don't break any laws taking my photos. Those waterfall police are never around when the law is being broken. (haha)
Very sad to hear about those ice climbers but they do know the risks. Most of the tracks to falls here in Oregon are closed for the winter due to falling ice too. When I got those frozen waterfall shots there were people climbing the ice cliffs (frozen layers of water seeping from sheer rock faces) and I wanted to stop for photos but couldn't because of the narrow road so I was going to stop on the way back but they'd gone by then so I missed them. What a sight though.
This is a really interesting shutter speed you've used here Eb. It's not frozen but not really super misty either. It's a "sweet" in between spot. Really nice crystal like effect. I will have to try for that next time I'm shooting a waterfall. I like it.
Thanks again for all you nice words and comments.
Cheers - Ann :)

Ann, the falls do freeze and become very dangerous due to falling ice sheets. In past years, during heavy freeze up, ice-climbers have been known to frequent this place and some have died. Access is currently restricted. OK, now you know that I broke the law for the sake of the art!

And a wonderful shot to close out with, Eb! I like your composition in this one, with the falls going diagonally through the image, and framed by the trees. Dave.

Beautiful waterfalls indeed Eb. I see I'm not the only silly one to freeze pinkies off for a nice shot. I'm wondering if those falls freeze sometimes. As you know I'm quite fascinated by frozen waterfalls. I just love all waterfalls. I should add that I spent almost a year in BC, Canada and fell in love with the country. I would live there in a heartbeat. My last trip through BC was a few months ago when I went through BC and the Yukon to get to Alaska. Still breathtaking. Wonderful details and excellent exposure in the water here. A beautiful capture of these lovely falls.
Thank you for taking the time to drop by my portfolio and view and comment on my images Eb.
Cheers - Ann :)

Megan, thanks for viewing and commenting. Appearances deceive! Access to the falls is restricted this time of the year because it is dangerous due to land slides and falling ice. The slope is very steep and slippery. The water would be at the freezing point. Beautiful but not comfortable!
