Thanks Dawna and John for taking time to offer suggestions.I'll definitely try to follow them .I never take ratings or comments personally ,but low ratings plus no comments confuse me as to whether the pic is really bad or somebody is making mischief. Thanks ,once again.
anindya, it is not your fault that people are so rude to rate your photo so low and not even give an explanation or pointers to help you improve. don't take the ratings personally, as dawna already said.
and dawna gave good advice here. the baby is the subject but the blankets really are quite distracting and the angle could be more direct. the colors look a little flat as well, and that can be remedied by using different lighting techniques rather than just the onboard N80 flash...but that can cost a lot of money. another option you could try, and i have, is a different film. the fuji nps 160 or nph 400 are GREAT portrait films and even look good with an onboard flash. can't find those films anywhere though. but try looking at a camera shop for them, and if you still can't find it, www.bhphotovideo.com has it.
hi Anindya, I will try to offer some suggestions as to how to get a better capture (I did not rate this however)
first of all, what a darling baby - looks very photogenic and a sweet pose the child is in. I think the composition could be better tho - get down lower to be eye level with a child, and move over to the left to get a more direct shot. I would move in just a little closer, use a less colorful distracting blanket (notice there are three different blankets around the child, a subtle plain one would be better), and use a small f-stop to blur the bg and help the subject stand out. just a few tips, try not to take any ratings personally :)
