Someone went to some work. They are very cutet and certainly worth preserving in pictures. I really like how you know just how to use the light to the vbest advantage. Your picture reminds me of my son. He is up in he frozen north right now where Inukshuk can be seen throughout the land. Mary

Beautiful lighting, the shapes are quite interesting, like a Stonehenge-like approach to sculpture...

intresting concept behind piling stones on one another before i thought this is a weird act of nature on small stone their was a bigger stone on on the bigger their was another bigger and on top a small mole like, mentioning my idendy in this world.... nice work i like mystery to reaveal itself but the way it reveals and yet is mysterious is another mysterious act and the chain goes on and on keeping me more thirsty and contained both exist right now i like the image but the subject is always silently passing by comming in new ways in new forms ....better i should stay quit.......

Excellent capture of the Inukshuks, Alison! Great lighting on the whole scene. As Andre says they are very popular here, and in fact are part of the flag of Nunavut, in the eastern arctic of Canada, formerly part of the North West Territories. Dave.

Hi Alison, For the last couple of years the kids and I have been making these little statues without really knowing what they are all about. I did a little research and you might find this interesting.
Inukshuk (singular), meaning "likeness of a person" in Inuktitut (the Inuit language) is a stone figure made by the Inuit. The plural is inuksuit. The Inuit make inuksuit in different forms and for different purposes: to show directions to travellers, to warn of impending danger, to mark a place of respect, or to act as helpers in the hunting of caribou. Similar stone figures were made all over the world in ancient times, but the Arctic is one of the few places where they still stand. An inukshuk can be small or large, a single rock, several rocks balanced on each other, round boulders or flat. Inuit tradition forbids the destruction of inuksuit.
Nice photo BTW Andre
