You are very kind with your comment, Julie. And to be honest, this shot was taken quite some time ago with my old Minolta. I have not yet really been able to reproduce images of this quality with my Nikon, although I am working on it. I reckon I now have the right lens (a 105mm macro) and just need to get a flash that I can modify so that it will sync with the camera at something like 1/1000th or 1/1500th. I understand that Nikon flashes on Nikon cameras are limited to 1/500th (unless you do a simple modification). Let's see how it goes - I do tend to put quite a bit of tech info under my drop shots.

Hi John, I like your portfolios, I am very much attracted to colors and this photo has very interesting color. The drip or the Plip was captured very precisely on the right place as if there was a color explosion. great image!

Sally - that's what I guessed about the lighting. It's what I was doing for ages and I was getting really frustrated with my blurry results. Then I suddenly remembered there was a flash hidden away somewhere on the A2, flipped it up, whacked the shutter speed up to 1/2000 and my drops immediately became much sharper. John

Spooky! - they do say great minds think alike! I prefer your nicely blurred background. I had a go at 'artifically inducing' some depth of field with various different kinds of blur - but it just didn't look natural. The actual speen was 1/640th (but it's not listed) and the light was just bright sunlight - 'cos I can't use flash!

This is a real beauty, John. The capture is excellent, and the color is dazzling. It certainly does look different around here. I've not been able to upload images over around 340. All the postings are coming through at 750x750 even though I uploaded at 800x800. Welcome back . . . Regards, --George

I really like the background that you used on this one and the definition on the drop is perfect. Wonderful lighting and timing. :)
