I like the colours and the splits go well with the border. The composition is good as close as it is, and the conker in the middle stands out by itself.

Well thats what I would have thought also...f16 normaly covers quite a wide depth...I had the camera mounted on a tripod about 40cm from the subject...not sure if that would have any effect on the DOF...I also have one at f22 with low flash and I think the DOF is similar to this one...hey ho..never mind...thanks for the comment, mate.

Nice still life made better by great light. My only suggestion would be that I would prefer to see sharper in the bottom of the frame.
At f16 I would have thought that would havw been the case.

Great shot, wonderful 'wintery' mood, open fire, hot chocolat... the works!!! Beautiful warm colors, light and textures, good DOF and composition... well captured!!!
BTW thanks for your comment on my previous upload, I took it down, reworked (i.e. cropped) and reposted it as you among others suggested... hope it's better this way (well I think so... ;-D).
