"I am not Cartier-Bresson, nor am I pretending to be."
Who said that you want to be Bresson? me?
"I am just an amateur photographer and traveller that sometimes tries to see a bit further than the usual."
in big citys you can find this motive at every single corner....so making a picture like this is not a big deal....
And yet another reason why Henri would have never taken this picture: It is taken with a Nikon Coolpix 5700. There were none of those in his time.
I can see that it was taken with an digital camera, the grey scale has nothing to do with film medium :) but a there are stil film cameras around, just in case... also books about Bresons work. best regards S.

Glad Steven sees a bit further than Stefan. The subject obviously tries his best to get going in a tough situation, ironed, clean clothes, smart hat. Maybe just an appearance you could argue...
In any case I know Henri would have never taken a picture like this. I am not Cartier-Bresson, nor am I pretending to be. I am just an amateur photographer and traveller that sometimes tries to see a bit further than the usual. Responding to Stefan, I see honor in this man; I see retention of his self-esteem in circumstances beyond most of our abilities to imagine; I also see an honorable irony, created by the photographer, who noticed the unnoticed, and now so have we.

Bresson would naver have made a photo like this one, where is the "honour" of this man?

Not a great fan of cropping up Richard... I could have approached him and go for a more portrait-like picture but I would have missed on the specifics of the location and the street components. Besides, that box was probably his lunch... I felt it needed to be there.

A technically good photo which helps transmit the message of its content. I would be tempted to crop the white cup, which is blown out and distracting, but that would spoil your nice assymetric composition. This scene could be almost anywhere in the world.
