An excellent capture of real attention - you can almost feel her eyes drinking in the information. Beautiful technical quality and balance as well.

Best wishes, Jonathan

Hello Bill - thank you for the detailed comment. I really do appreciate hearing your thought as you viewed this image. Good light is always a pre-requisite, but there is something about the larger formats that are hard to beat when it comes to portraits... Cheers, S.

Stephan, this is an absolutely beautiful portrait. I personally feel that the range of contrast is very acceptable, considering the limitations of down sampling an available light photo to mpeg. It really has a 3-dimensional quality -- the edgelight, the highlight in the eyes, the soft contouring shadows and, of course, the soft focus background.

I have had a fair amount of experience with the Mamiya67 and its great modeling effects and now realize that it has become the preferred camera by most advertising photographers and photo illustrators.

Maybe if we could scan and post 150 meg images, we would not have to deal with mpeg limitations.

Regards, Bill

A perfect informal portrait ? they don't get any better than this one ? even considering the little angel subject you had to work with.

Hi Dirck - I am glad you like it. Controlling contrast (curves adjustments) is the main thing I think about in post work on b/w photos. It is a little ironic because I know how it is perceived will vary a lot depending on who the monitor and viewing environment.

Wonderful, Stefan! Beautiful lighting in this shot - all soft shadows and gentle molding. I love the fine detail in her hair and along her forehead. At first I thought maybe a little more contrast, but I've changed my mind. :)

Hi Sammy - thank you for your considered comment - I agree with you about the feel of film. The bright spot was notieced elsewhere as well, I'll see if I can work on that.

Lovely, sensitive portrait.

Even though it is presented here
digitally, it seems images originally
shot on film really do look different,
... in this case better than digital.

You might consider slightly
burning in the light background
patch just above her forehead as
it may be drawing some attention
away from her face.
