About Taken in my 'birth town' of Weymouth on one of my reading breaks. You can catch a little row-boat ferry across the river mouth from the beach to the gardens and it's great for taking low-level shots of boats!!

Best regards to all,

Chris

Yes, these ships call be tall, can't they ..
I once tried to get once at 18mm, standing only 10m away, did not succeed .. the masts can be gigantically high !
Good shot with the cloudy sky behind !
Regards, Peter

Hi Chris, you thoughtful man. I'm flattered you noticed I haven't posted in a bit. Well, life has kept me busy and away from picture taking and also putting me behind with comments. I hope when we have finished the celebration this weekend of my Mother-In-Law's 90th birthday I'll have some time. However, as soon as my daughter calls and says our first grandchild has decided it's time to join us, I'll be gone again.
;-)))) Can't wait!

Superb angle and brilliantly composed, Chris. I wonder how you managed to get such high quality images. Did you use RAW and/or custom curve feature in your D70?

Yep, the original sky, John! Selecting it out from amongst all that rigging would have been pretty tricky!! )

These tall ships are so beautiful to look at. Not fair you had clouds the day you saw them and I just had overcast skies. I actual get to board one of the tall ships and go sailing on one for 4 hours. I'm hoping to be able to take some good shots out at sea of the others that will be there also.

Very nice it is too. Even with a low viewpoint, you can use portrait mode, and tilt upwards at quite an angle, provided you leave a bit of extra room at the side for later straightening. Then you can straighten up the leaning verticals and Voila! you have a VERY tall ship.

Fantastic tall ship Chris,
Love the clouds in the sky
along with great contrasts.

What is it about these ships that we all
find so appealing?

Good work,
