This is just my friend Larry doing one of his crazy poses during the headshot shoot we did in the photo studio. This time around we had a much better backdrop and a bit of a different (and possibly better) lighting setup and got some interesting results...
I felt that the real formal "official" headshots aren't anything to post on UseFilm... but on the other hand there are some very classic great looking portrait shots (on a bleak white background) that just came out great and I need to share!
I really enjoy putting a bit of a tint of a shadow on the background. It gives it more definition, a more "real" element to the person, and in essence more life and feeling to them, too. Let me know what you think!
Great shirt for this guy and the setting! Would you clarify about the shadow, do you light it that way or is it something you add afterwards? Looks good either way. I too would have prefered not clipping the hands.
I love it!! Great character and attitude. Your approach makes is 'real' yet still professional. Perhaps a little more room on the bottom to give space around his hands. It's the hands that really add impact here so it is a shame they're cropped so tightly.
Nice photo, Alex-- I like the relaxed, messing-around nature of the shot. Good lighting, the little bit of shadows work well. I like the dof that has his hands a bit out of focus.
