Lovely quiet shot of an everyday subject, rendring pure mood. Well done and perceived. Best regards Jorg

A nice quiet day at the dock, and your photo represents that very well, Jim! I like the softness, and muted colours.

Thanks Chris, I'm beginning to think its a refresh rate on my monitor. Nobody seems to be complaining but me.

The water looks like glass, James.
Kind regards, Chris
P.S. I tend to use Image Ready to fine tune them for the Web, James. Normally it means darkening the photo a little and upping the saturation, but they look fine when they're uploaded. I also use 'unsharp mask' once I've resized, before going to Image Ready. I use the following figures: 125%, .4px, 3 levels.

what a great picture, everything so still and quiet. I love how the only bright piece of color is in the jacket. Beautifully done James. Alison

Just goes to show you that you don't need the sunshine to produce beautiful results. The quality of light is as important as its quantity and here is a classic example.

With this headlong rush into all things digital it is worth remembering the basics, triopd and long exposures in this case.

Loveit.

p.s. Have you tried very long exposures, 4 seconds plus, in the rain? Worth giving it a go.

Wow, does this photo look bad? It looks terrible to me compared to my file. Sometimes I dont like what happens to these pics after I upload them. Here is what I am doing, if I'm doing something wrong let me know.

1) Do all digital color correction in 16 bit tif with a Adobe RGB work space.
2) downsize to 72 dpi and resize photo to proper size.
3.) Convert to sRGB
4.) convert to 8 bit
5.) Use PS Save for the web

and thats it. Am I missing something?

Thanks,

Jim
