About It was very dark and the distant was quite far. I had to push the zoom lens to the limit (which is not very much). I also had to use ISO 400 which explains the grain in the sky.
But i thought the colour is not too bad.

I use photoshop cs. a very powerful editing software. Jus edit the brightness lower, then increase the contrast.

Hi Joe,
Again very nice editing of the colours and contrast. Cutting the bottom bit defeats my title for this photo. The triabgular point depics the sharp edge of the crayons.

I really like the way you reduced the grains.
Can you tell me what tools you had used?

I will retake this photo hopefully when I get a better camera.

Cheers,
Ben

The cropped one is better. nice colour.

I have done one for you. i lower the brightness and increase the contrast so as to remove unsightly noise. I also cropped it . Hope you like it. cheer!

Thankyou for your kind comments Daniel.
I am glad you agree with the title and the contents of the picture. However I hope to get a better camera in the future and take the same shot again :)

i like the original photo better than the cropped version, it gives a better image of a box of crayons.

This has to be a beautiful shot; the dark at the bottom of the picture just adds to the color, in my opinion.

It's kind of fuzzy, but that doesn't detract from the creativeness.

Teriffic shot!

ben, you can use some of the filters in photoshop to do what neat image does, but neat image does it a lot better. that's what neat image was essentially created for. you can download a free copy of the software at neatimage.com i believe.

i personally have no qualms about touching up photos. after all, it's been done in dark rooms forever. only difference now is that the amateur photographer has access to the same tools on the computer.

Thanks James,
I like the colour and the picture becomes alot smoother. What is the tools option to do this?
Thanks,
Ben

Hi James,
Thanks for your advice. I try to manipulate my photos as little as possible.
You are correct those are trees cutting through the middle. Unfortunately the houses there are priced at $1m-$2m mark so it unlikely that I would get a higher view of the city from that area.
Can Photoshop do the same trick as Neat Image to get rid of grains?
Exposure is 15s at F8.
Thanks for you valuable input,
Regards,
Ben

I agree with james, the trees are distracting, although I don't know if you could do anything about that. Also cropping both the top and the bottom would help. HOwever, the colors are excellent and it is a great subject.

you're right, the colour is nice, but a few distractions for me:

1. may be a good idea to crop some off the bottom. that just looks like dead space to me.

2. what's that cutting right thru the middle? trees? if you could have gotten a bit higher, you'd have more city and less tree.

to get rid of some of the graininess, you might try running the photo thru neat image. what about the exposure data?

warmest regards ~ james
