Hmmm. The negative was B&W, but isn't this a colour scan? I'm sure I see vague washes of a slight colouration, particularly in the sky. Very subtle... The grain works better in the sky than on the mid-distance details. The white on the low wall, lower right, is very effective, but I felt the picture as a whole could use a little more, say on the boat...

like the atmosphere here and b&w works here perfectly;
the pear leads naturally deeper into the picture to the horizon;
what distracts the view is grass on the beach (there are too many subjects there) and this boat on the left;

quite nice..
i would have liked a little detail of some kind in the sky..if there was any(?) also IMHO, there needs to be a clearer subject..something to make it a bit more interesting...i find the image just a little boring and i dont know what to look at.
its composed by the rule book..rule of thirds and all
