The latest in my household-objects project. I went a bit further with this one - I bought some clear bulbs, sockets, cables, dimmer switch etc... and built a circuit to use on the kitchen table, plugged into the mains. I took an entire film on this subject, using a cooling filter infront of the lens. Individually, they looked great but I took about three of the best, of varying exposure and focus, then used many different methods in Photoshop to combine parts of them into this finished image. I must admit this isn't quite my idea, I was influenced by a photo I saw in a recent photography magazine.
As always, I really look forward to your ideas and comments.
Great idea. I really like that you can see the bulb's glass. The way it's highlighted alongs it's edge is exceptional. I kind of feel only using the single bulb would have been more effective. PS: Thanks for your comment on my "BY MOONLIGHT" image. By the way it was a 30 second exposure. I had taken several images that morning over a period of 1/2 hour. I posted the image data from memory and I confused this one with one of the other images. It does irritate me that this is a learning and critique site and so many photographers just do not post image data and info about the image. Maybe it's that they are lazy and don't want to bother with all that. Anyway, I will continue to past all data and info about my images and hope you continue to also do so.
the technical effort and meteculous description of your preparation suggest more then what I am feeling from this picture. Given the subject of light and its reflection...this photo has a good start... but seems to be lacking some concept beyond the bulb itself. Nonetheless, you have my regrads on the complexity of capturing good focused images of light itself... a very difficult subject no doubt.
