Sometimes it helps to single out a single berry in the group and get it in sharp focus. It gives the image a focal point.

This has great colour but there's no real point of focus. I have a picture with a similar problem in my portfolio (daisy), and it got a similar comment.

Do you know what sort of berry it is?

Good composition and nice different object. Well......little bit I try here to find where is the focus... yes at the top. Perchaps you are closer than the lens can be. I am sure that D100 can do not auto focus. In close ups it is a must to use it.
