This photo is beautiful. I love the serious look, the reflective mood. The subtle colors are really nice. I just looked over your portfolio, and it is terrific! I'm not sure how I missed your outstanding work, before. I'm putting you into my "friends" list, so I won't miss anymore. ..Brad

Hi Lissa:
You look great for a Tuesday -- or any day.
I took a few weeks off from uploading and commenting but, hopefully, am back at it again.
A while back, you asked about "white overlay." This actually doesn't ring any bells, although one of the most useful layer blending modes, in my experience, is the overlay mode. That's because in most cases, it actually mixes the pixels of the two layers in ways that are generally predictable and visually compelling.
There are times when I use gradient layers with the overlay blending mode, perhaps that was the origin of the "white overlay" reference, since often I'll use a "white to transparent" gradient to brighten the top half of a scene, or a "black to transparent" gradient to darken part of scene. Anyway, I'd be happy to explain in more detail if I can. Best, Jim

This is great!! You should do this more often. It tells a lot of who you, and what you're all about. I love the soft look, and your eyes,-----------well, I'll say no more.

I took it all by myself just me a lock door and some Enya for music :) I was a bit unsure ... I guess I was afraid of what I might see when I looked at the finished image . You see I spend so much time behind the camera I almost think it is to keep from being in front of it .Its hard to look inside yourself sometimes . Thanks so much for all the suport it took me a few days to post this . Karen gave me the confidence ! Such a good friend and great for my ego . Thanks Chris ... not to bold at all . Steve ,thanks so so so much for the kind words .I do try to bring emotion to my work . I am a very emotional person and I guess I see everything in an emotional way and it shows in my work . I am so glad you are getting something out of my pictures!

This is a beautiful self-portrait. The slight color left in the eyes is a great effect, and the lighting is superb.

Hello Lissa,
You made a beautiful portrait!
I've looked through your other photos on this site, and they are all consistently beautiful and stylistically unique. Besides your mastery of technique - focus, exposure, lighting, etc., you engage your viewers with a distinctly emotional pull.
Here's what I get out of this self-portrait, for example: you feel, at the moment, at least, deeply troubled and unsure about something. My immediate reaction was that I felt I wish I could tell you something to reassure you. I actually found myself humming "Let It Be" ("... there will be an answer, let it be.") Wow, not too many photos affect me that way!
Thank you for sharing these images with us; I know I'm learning from them and truly appreciate them.
Best regards, SteveR

A absolutely beautiful self portrait Lissa. I LOVE the tight crop and desaturation. The composition is wonderful as your hair and hands frame your face perfectly. Great eye contact and not to mention..........BEAUTIFUL eyes!!! The light and exposure are PERFECT. I would say you did a great job on your first assignment.
Glad to see youre pushing yourself farther and I can see improvement with each photo shoot that you do. When I look back at both of our pictures one year ago; we have both come very far. I am proud of your progress and more importantly glad that you had the confidence to get on the other side of the camera. I have not gotten that brave yet. You have strived to improve and learn all that your camera has to offer and youre doing a GREAT job.

You look a bit unsure about Tuesdays, Lissa ~ or maybe you're unsure about you. (I"ve read the bio!) No need to be though. You're a very talented photographer, (top of PN's 3 day page!!), and, (if I may be so bold), very attractive to boot! So did you take this shot yourself? Or did your friend take it for you? Either way, it's a great angle and I love the use of selective colour. Great portrait! Kind regards, Chris.
